Combined CaRo U14s Begin Their Season at Moray

Sunday was the first fixture of the season for the U14s boys, away to Moray RFC in Elgin.

This year, due to player numbers, Caithness have joined forces with Ross Sutherland RFC. Caithness had four players and Ross Sutherland had six players available for the match. A development match was arranged at 13-a-side, with Moray loaning three players to the visitors.

It’s never easy getting a scratch team organised for a fixture, as even the Barbarians get a few days to organise themselves beforehand.

Moray were quick to get on the scoreboard, and then Caithness/Ross (CaRo) had a good 10-minute period of pressure and composed play, which resulted in two tries, with both tries converted.

That 10-minute honeymoon period evaporated over the next 20 minutes, with Moray scoring another seven tries through good handling in the back line and pinching balls at the breakdown, with CaRo being slow to secure the ball at the ruck.

With a few more games together and a bit more trust in each other, the CaRo team will improve on the pitch.
